Closely Considered: Diebenkorn in BerkeleySeptember 13, 2014 - November 15, 2014

Curated by Jan Wurm

The exhibition and its accompanying catalogue presented fifty-one works on paper, which included examples of the artist's prints.

"There has been a visual culture in Berkeley which has looked to global issues in contemporary art while embracing the dissonant local voice. In the immediacy of drawing, in the realm of the expendable piece of paper, there lies a freedom to explore change. Unlike the weighty commitment of painting, work in ink or charcoal or gouache on paper offers a fast-moving, fast-drying platform for every mark. As the exhibition focuses on the graphic work of Richard Diebenkorn, we encounter the image as it was drawn: an open investigation and a closely examined visual equation." —Essay "Closely Considered: Diebenkorn in Berkeley" by Jan Wurm in the exhibition catalogue

"...a new approach and a new vocabularly." —San Francisco Chronicle (September 11–14, 2014)
